*Old Friends, New Friends
Ever since the first day of school, I’ve made new friends and re-connected with old ones. I also lost some friends that were close to me for stupid reasons. All I know is that my friends will always be there for me when I need them.
*SHS Activities Attended
So far this year, I’ve been to all the dances, and the Freshman Dance was the by far. It’s way more fun when it’s just the people in your grade dancing and not the whole school. The football games are always fun too, because you can see your friends outside of school and have time to talk to them.
*Funniest, Weirdest, Scariest Moments
The scariest moment of the year was walking into the building the first day of school. I was so nervous, but once I saw all my friends, it made everything better. The weirdest moment was definitely the initiation into Global Ed. The upperclassmen running around the room, acting crazy. Although it made me think that Global Ed was going to be a good choice.
*Hardest, Easiest Class & Assignments
Science is the hardest subject for me, and it’s always been. You can tell that I’m not the best at it because of my grade I have in it. Easiest class is gym, all you really have to do is show up in your gym clothes and you’re good. For the hardest assignments, it would be the Cultural Events. I think since I have only done one, it will get easier as the year goes on.
*Top Five Current Events
The biggest Current Events in the news this school year that I learned were the Chile miners, the toxic sludge in Hungary, and the Oil Spill in the gulf. Although those were some of the most talked about, the two that I found most interesting were when we found out Kim Jung Il's youngest son is going to take over for him and when Bill Gates said he was going to give away half his fortune away to his foundation in Africa. Bill Gates is a rich guy who has a lot of money, so when I heard about that, it made me feel that he was a really good person.
*Faces in the News
Every Friday in Global Ed, we take Current Event tests. They have faces of famous people that we learned about in the news the previous week. Some faces that show up on the tests are Virg Bernero, Rick Snyder, the Pope, Kim Jung Il, and many more. The one face that always trips me up is Mahmoud Ahmadineajad, the president of Iran.
*Interesting New Words
An interesting new word I learned this year is akimbo. The word means when your elbows are turned outward, like when your hands are on your hips. I never really knew there could be a word for that, but I guess so!
*Popular or Memorable Songs
The song that will make me remember my freshman year is “Like a G6.” It came out during the beginning of school and everyone fell in love with it, including me. It played at the Freshman Dance and it was the best song to dance to that night.
*Popular or Memorable Movies
The most memorable movie for me is Toy Story 3. I remember that was the movie I watched the night before school and I fell asleep watching it and it was the worst feeling when I woke up and wanted to finish it but I couldn’t because it was the first day of school. The whole school I anticipated getting home so I could finish watching it.
*Rumors or Gossip
Gossiping is bad. Everyone has done it but when you do, it’s just going to come back and bite you in the butt. Rumors can hurt people, so don’t spread rumors either. It’s mean.
*Fads and Trends
For girls, the trend this year was the over the shoulder purses that sling across your body. I don’t own one because I personally don’t like them, but that’s just me. They look cute on girls, but so many people have them it’s just overwhelming! As for guys, I don’t really pay attention to what they wear or anything like that.
*First Cultural Event
For my first Cultural Event, I went to Fort Mackinac over the summer. Writing is one of my stronger areas, so I didn’t find it that hard. It was just the fact that I didn’t remember a lot of the information that I learned, but I found a brochure, so that helped me.
*Homecoming
Homecoming was a blast. The best parts of that night were the before and after party. The dance was fun don’t get me wrong, but it was just our first year. I bet the next 3 dances will be better, since we now what goes on and everything.
*Advice for a Freshman
My advice for freshman is the whole first week of high school is not as bad as everyone says. I got myself so worked up, but once you get used to the school and how many people there are, it’s so easy to navigate and get around.
*What I’m Looking Forward to…
I’m looking forward to the last day of school next year. School is fun and all, but the learning part of the whole thing doesn’t appeal to me. I also don’t like waking up at 5:45 every morning.
*Other Noteworthy Achievements or Events
One of my achievements is passing the first card marking of my whole freshman high school experience. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be, but Mr. Sherburne said the teachers baby us the first card marking and it gets much harder and complex as the year goes on, which really didn’t make me feel much better.
I agree science is the hardest subject ever! good job passing the first card marking. Also you spelled your middle name wrong:( :)
ReplyDeleteGood post. I agree with science being the hardest subject.
